Business Creation
My final projects in Graphic Design school combined all of our studies creating logos and graphics using Adobe Illustrator, business and client creation skills, and using Adobe Photoshop to create mock ups as deliverables.
Scroll below to see my three businesses I created.
Side Note: These businesses are completely make believe!
About Us: In the United States, more than 70% of households have a pet. However, not everyone can provide the proper exercise and grooming for their doggy friends. That is why I’ve decided to create a Doggy Daycare! Not only will we be open from 7AM until 7PM, granting a wide time range for families’ schedules, but we also offer the services of picking up your dog and/or grooming them while they’re at the facility!
About bus safety: We will require any dog riding our bus to be wearing a harness. That way we can secure them safely to their seat. Pick up will begin at 7AM and end at 9AM, ensuring they have plenty of time for playing and their bath, if they’re getting one.
Target Audience: Dog owners, of course
Special Target Audience: we will provide a senior discount to elderly customers to encourage them to partake in our pick-up service since it's harder for some older customers to get around.
Why We’re Better Than Competitors: Our facility will be in Wetumpka, Alabama. There is only one official doggy daycare in Wetumpka, so I feel like we will be more successful in this area. We will also be the only facility that offers pick up on our bus.
Above is our color scheme along with our mood board below. Why these colors? Blue and brown provide a sense of calm and stability, giving customers the feel that their furry family members will be relaxed and safe. White gives a sense of cleanliness, which is why I made the bus in the logo an off-white color.
Beginning Fees and Information: After finding a good location to rent with enough land, we will need a Business Permit, Zoning permits for land use, and a Building Permit. There is also a $150 Course for Certification of taking care of animals.
Below is an estimated cost of equipment I came up with after doing research on things that a professional, successful dog groomer and daycare facility would need.
About us: Wellness by K is a private owned, small and personal day spa. I, Meredith Moseley, am the manager and am in charge of finances, marketing, etc. My two best friends are the main workers. Katelyn is a licensed esthetician that has always wanted to open up her own spa, and her wife, Kasey is a licensed masseuse. Combining their skills in the field and my skills in graphic design and marketing, we are following our dreams of opening our own small business together!
Starting out, Wellness by K will offer numerous facial services and massage services. We will have a 3 to 4 person sauna to prepare you for your services and we will have a relaxation area offered to wind down afterward. If you come to our spa, you get a full five hour access to the facility. With our success, we later plan on expanding into manicure, pedicure, and waxing services.
Target Audience: People looking to support a small business while taking care of their "wellness."
As far as competition goes, there are a few spas in the Montgomery area. However, none are private owned, so our spa will provide a much more quiet and personalized experience. I also did research on other spa prices and I lowered every service we offer by at least $20, some over $50, so we will have much lower prices to bring in more attention.
Also, a sauna is not always offered to prepare our customers for their service!
Above is our color scheme along with our mood board below. Why these colors? White gives us a sense of cleanliness which is beyond important for a spa. Green gives a feeling of healing, which is what our customers will be doing by booking our services. Shades of brown provide stability, and lastly, pink stands for youth, and we want all of our customers to leave feeling relaxed and youthful.
To start out, we will need quite a bit of equipment along with a professional college course offered for $377 that will certify us as Spa Owners. The equipment fees are below.
I thought it would be a fun idea to create a bar on wheels! We will offer drinks ranging from canned and/or bottled beer, wine, and mixed drinks containing liquor. Soft drinks will be offered as well.
No hot food - just booze, games, music, and snacks!
Our Mission
Our Mission is to provide an uplifting, fun environment and vibe for our customers. Customers may grab a quick drink on the way to the beach, while being out and about, or they can pull up a chair and stick around for some games and music.
Market and Industry Overview
Food trucks became a more common idea in the mid-1900s and continue to grow in popularity. In 2021, the United States food truck services market was valued at 1.16 billion. It is predicted that there will be a 6.4% compound annual growth rate from 2022 to 2030.
We chose Florida to open this mobile bar because I felt like it would be much more successful with the tourists and every day environment. People are more likely to stop at a mobile bar on the way to the beach or while shopping than a boring area with nothing much to do outside.
Target Market
Of course, adults 21 years and older would be the vast audience. We will offer games like corn hole, giant connect four, tic tac toe, and have lively music playing. With that being said, a younger crowd (ages 21-45) would be more inclined to come to our truck.
Competition/How We Are Better
Some of the most well known and popular food trucks in Florida are Worldwide Bistro, Heavy’s Food Truck, Treehouse Truck, and Melted Madness. The thing is… I’m not looking to open a food truck. I’m opening a mobile bar! It isn’t typical that you can just walk up and order a drink off the street instead of having to go into a bar or restaurant and I fully believe that the idea alone will spark community interest and bring customers in.
